There is only one thing tonight.
I miss my best friends.
Celebrating Tia's 21st birthday in Omaha.
I miss them. I miss being able to walk in the living room of our apartment and share the latest happening. I miss watching movies and ordering Papa John's (with Parmesan Garlic Breadsticks). I miss the coffee brewing Saturday mornings and us sitting around postponing homework.
I miss margaritas at La Mexicana।
Mostly, I miss the living room talk.
It's hard to find the little stuff worth talking about when I only talk to them once every few weeks or on gchat. It seems only the significant happenings are important enough to mention. It's difficult to remember a month's worth of little things to share every so often. And let's be honest, the significance of the little things diminishes with every passing second.
I miss knowing how they are feeling, what they are thinking, what is making them happy at the moment. I miss sharing them what makes me happy at the moment (the nice thing Nate did for me) and what I'm pondering.
Yes, I miss my best friends. I miss the living room in which we congregated and shared the things that meant so much.
I miss being goofy with them.
I miss laughing at their goofiness.
I just miss being with them.
We live in 4 different states. Texas, Florida, Iowa, Minnesota. The chances of us living even remotely near each other (or in the same state) are slim.
I miss L.A.T.E.
At Em's wedding.
At my wedding.
(Two more left to complete the set)
I have been truly blessed with the best best friends.
Cheers to you three.
Thank you for your friendship.

Please don't make me ugly cry when I'm getting ready for work in the morning. :) I miss you. I love you. We will plan our rendezvous and make it happen THIS YEAR!
My parents are in their 60s and they still try to get together with their college friends once a year. They used to have a round robin where they would send an envelope full of letters around to each person in the group until it made it full circle, then my parents would write up a new letter and send it around again. They now communicate more easily with email, but I think it's fantastic that they kept in touch for so many years despite the distance separating them. I was lucky enough to go to one of their reunions this past year and it was amazing to see how they just picked up where they left off and had a fabulous time together. I hope one day that I too can have reunions with my best college friends!
