We have relocated

First Thing:
Apparently the first week of August is the worst time to move:
August 1: 107
August 2: 109
August 3: 111
August 4: 109
August 5: 107
August 6: 106
However, we are officially moved in to a three bedroom, two bathroom house.  The best part about it?  My living room.  I no longer have to weave in and out of furniture to walk across the room.  The second best part? My shortened commute to work!! Praise!  First thing we set up was the bed to rest.  Second thing we set up was the living room to relax.  Third thing we set up was the kitchen to eat.  Now we can conquer the rest of the house.

Second Thing:
I cannot wait to start the nesting process, again.  Only this time I will actually enjoy it.  Navy slipcovers for the couches and coral walls.
For the living room:
{design seeds}
For the kitchen:
I'm hoping to paint the formica countertops anything but the muted pink they are.  If that doesn't work, I'll paint the cabinets a nice stone blue/gray and roll with it.
For the bedroom:
We can't decide on red or turquoise.  Still thinking that one out.
For spare #1:
Bright red for the Huskers.  Anything related to the University of Nebraska and the Huskers will be in that room including the quilt Nate's grandmother made for us:
For spare #2:
I'm still waiting on inspiration for this room.

Third Thing:
I bought a new pair of shoes last week courtesy of my friend/personal shopper.  Seriously, the perfect pair:
Thanks KK!!  Love them!

Yes, Bean Pie

First Thing:
Yes, I like bean pie.  I wanted to get past this experience as soon as possible.  Nate loved it growing up.  It looks disgusting before you bake it.  It sounds disgusting when you say it.  It is disgusting when you read the recipe.  However, it is actually pretty good.  It's even better when my husband makes it and I don't have to do anything but enjoy it.

Second Thing:
I enjoyed a nice glass of Riesling tonight.  More than one in fact.  It's because my wonderful husband bought it for me at the store.  He bought my favorite brand and type of white wine. We've enjoyed the wine and have already finished the bottle.  (shhhh..... don't tell).  AND HE BOUGHT ME ORANGES!

Third Thing:
We are presently enjoying the movie RED.  It is hilarious.  Nate told me Bruce Willis was discovered as a bartender.  I'm going to have to research this tomorrow because after the movie, I AM GOING TO BED.

"People mostly get paper cuts, not shot!"
"No, mostly I get shot."

Fourth Thing:
Nate suggested we toast to Doozy's tonight.  I cried.
I actually cried.
It's because I miss Lincoln (and because I have such fond memories of the beginning of our relationship).  AND BECAUSE IT'S DELICIOUS!

Fifth Thing:
Yesterday, it felt a little like Nebraska.  They weather was Nebraska on a good, normal winter day.

Sixth Thing:
Erik Howard.  I am praying for you and your surgery.  You are the reason Nate and I are happily married.  You are the link that brought us together.  For that, I love you.  For you, I am grateful.  You are Nate's dearest friend.  Every night we'll pray for your brain tumor.  We pray for your surgery.  We pray for your recovery. We pray for your healing.

And thanks a million for the wonderful future you've provided me with (MOSTLY thanks to God, but a little to you, ; ) . . . you're the greatest).
Love you always, Erik Paul Howard.

I've got to start somewhere

First thing:
I've wanted to start a blog for a long long time but I feel like I don't have much to share or to say for that matter. I also feel like there is a lot of pressure to come up with something creative or something interesting for others to read but then a dear friend told me it doesn't matter what people want to read. The thing that does matter is that I am writing what I want and what I want to read. So this is the beginning of what I want to write whenever I want to write and I'm excited.
Second thing:
Tomorrow is December 1, which means that it has been exactly 3 months since I said "see ya later" to a certain man by the name of Norton and roughly 4 months until I say "told ya so". (Don't worry, not every post is going to be about him, I promise.)
December 1 also means there are 19 days until my best friend's wedding (and it is not at all like the movie, it is so much better). It will be a weekend of beautiful people, wonderful friends, and lovely dresses and heels. I can't wait!

All that to say: It's official. I'm "one of those" (a blogger).
